Using Your Phone Camera App to Capture a Video and Upload It to On3 Content Connect
This article walks through recording a field video, uploading it into Content Connect, generating a module, reviewing transcripts, and approving learning content created by On3.
This guide explains how to record a short training video using your phone (or any camera), upload it into On3 Content Connect on a desktop, and complete the most important checks to ensure accurate learning content is generated.
You do not need technical experience to follow these steps.
Step 1: Record the Video in the Field
When recording in the field, focus on clarity over perfection.
Recording Guidelines
-
Hold your phone sideways (landscape mode)
-
Use an external microphone if possible (wireless preferred)
-
Phone microphones alone are typically not ideal
-
-
Speak clearly and keep explanations simple
-
Use a small number of clear talking points
-
Show exactly what you are explaining
Photos (Recommended)
-
Capture clear photos of specific parts, items, or areas you reference
-
These images can be:
-
Edited into the video, or
-
Added later to the module’s Primers to support visual learning
-
Step 2: Get the Files onto Your Computer
Before uploading:
-
Transfer only the clean, usable video clips and photos from your phone
-
Save them into a clearly named folder on your computer
-
Make sure you know exactly where the files are located
This makes uploading into Content Connect faster and easier.
Step 3: Upload the Video to On3 Content Connect
-
Open a browser and go to app.on3.ai
-
From the Home Page, click Create Course
-
When prompted:
-
Select your Workspace (company or division)
-

-
This is almost always the correct option

-
-
If asked to select a Program and you are unsure:
-
Continue without selecting one
-
-
Upload one video only

Additional videos can be added after the module is generated

Step 6: Check the Transcript (Most Important Step)
⚠ This is the most critical step in the entire process.
-
Expand the Contents section
-
Locate your joined video
-
Find the Transcript directly below the video
-
The transcript includes all combined audio from the joined videos
-
-
Read the transcript carefully from start to finish
Everything On3 generates—learning content, coaching, and questions—is based on this transcript.
What to Do

Correct wording
-
Ensure it says exactly what you meant
If You Make Changes To The Transcript (Extremely Important)
